Party for the Planet

Party for the Planet is the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America! Join the Buttonwood Park Zoo and over 20 local organizations and businesses to celebrate green, sustainable living. Learn about choices that will ensure the health of our planet for generations to come, and enjoy live music, a raffle, face painting, animal demos, and more!

When: April 22, 10:30am – 2:30pm

Where: Buttonwood Park Zoo, 425 Hawthorn St.

Cost: Free with Zoo admission

 

New Bedford April School Vacation Week Fun at the Center

Children can enjoy New Bedford April School Vacation with scavenger hunts, interactive museum exhibits, dress-up, and more at the center on Thursday and Friday. A Crab Hat craft will be available and there will be storytime at 11:00am and 2:00pm on Thursday and Friday.

When: April 20 – 23, 10:00am – 4:00pm

Where: New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center, 38 Bethel St.

Cost: Adults $5, Seniors/Students $4, Children under 12 FREE

 

Spring Into Action and Song

All families are welcome to celebrate spring with Jackson’s interactive event. No registration is necessary. This program is supported by a grant from the New Bedford Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

When: April 20, 5:00pm – 6:00pm

Where: New Bedford Free Public Library, 613 Pleasant St.

Cost: FREE

 

New Bedford April School Vacation Week at the Whaling Museum

Explore the natural world during April School Vacation Week at the New Bedford Whaling Museum! Visitors of all ages can create their own work of art inspired by the Re/Framing the View: Nineteenth-Century American Landscapes exhibition to take home with them.

When: April 17 – 21, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Where: The Whaling Museum18 Johnny Cake Hill

Cost: Free with museum admission

 

April Staycation at Ricketson Nature Center

All week the Ricketson Nature Center will be providing free family-friendly activities including a guided nature walk and bird watching.

When: April 17 – 21, times vary

Where: Ricketson Nature Center, 1911 Acushnet Ave

Cost: FREE

 

April Staycation at the Andrea McCoy Rec Center

Active games in the gym along with steam projects, arts, board games, and more will be offered for a full day of fun. Lunch will be served daily. Registration is open to children grades K-6.

When: April 17 -21, 8:30am – 3:00pm

Where: Andrea McCoy Rec Center, 181 Hillman St.

Cost: New Bedford Resident $100, Non-resident $125
