New Bedford Holiday Programming

Join the City of New Bedford and the wonderful organizations throughout the City as we celebrate #NBfestive! November through December, you're sure to find holiday events happening. Whether you're looking for the perfect gift from one of the City's many local shops, a holiday performance that will leave you feeling the spirit of the holidays, or the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree at the New Bedford Public Library, New Bedford has all of the holiday cheer you need.

Friday, November 25
Friday Night Brights
Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum, 4–7 PM
Tour the museum, festively decorated for the holidays, and make sure to wear your best ugly sweater! Enjoy live music, family-friendly fun, refreshments, and the annual Cookie Challenge!

New Bedford Festival Theatre presents: Irving Berlin's White Christmas The Musical

Sunday, November 27
Front & Centre Holiday Market
Located in downtown New Bedford on Front, Centre, N. Water, William, and Bethel Streets, 12–4 PM
The shops and organizations in this section of historic downtown host their second annual holiday market. Join artists and makers for special demonstrations, shop pop-up sales, and refresh with a wine tasting. Live music, sidewalk chalk, and Mrs. Claus are just some of what you can expect for entertainment all while shopping local!

New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center: Check out the unique handmade items in the gift shop from books to ornaments, shirts, and mugs, and items for babies and toddlers. Take pictures with "Salty Santa" and make fish-themed ornaments with the Center's staff.

Afternoon Tea in the Parlors
Rotch-Jones Duff House & Garden Museum
Children's Tea on Sunday at 1 PM: Bring a doll for tea! Tuesday's tea times are 2 PM and 4 PM. Festive dress is encouraged, but not required. Recommended for ages 5 and up with an adult companion.

Saturday, December 3
Black in Business Pop-Up Holiday Market
New Bedford Whaling Museum, 12–5 PM
Featuring 14 local black-owned small businesses, Black Santa, and live music.

Winter Greens Market
Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum, 9 AM-2PM
Th Museum hosts The Garden Club of Buzzards Bay for a holiday greens market featuring wreaths, holiday decorations, and cuttings. Free and open to the public.

Thursday, December 8
AHA! Starry Night!
Downtown New Bedford, 3–8 PM
Downtown sparkles in the holiday season and on AHA! Night enjoy live music, holiday programming, and shopping in local boutiques. Treat yourself to local dining and don't forget that gift cards make excellent zero-waste gifts!

Christmas on County
Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum, 4–6 PM
Check out the decorations in the museum and hear from docents about how the residents of the house historically celebrated the holidays.

Saturday, December 10
GBH's A Christmas Celtic Sojourn
Zeiterion Theatre, 7:30 PM
Celebrate the music of the season with this live version of the show!

New Bedford Holiday Stroll
Holiday shopping shouldn't be stressful! Come downtown for some special pop-up markets, sales, and an abundance of unique gifts for everyone on your list. As an added bonus, when you shop local, you support the community. Kick back and enjoy some of the entertainment happening in businesses and organizations on the streets as you stroll between places. Take a break and dine and don't forget that gift cards make an excellent gift!

The City Holiday Parade
Starting at 4:30 on the corner of William and North Water Street, the parade marches up William Street to the New Bedford Free Public Library for the Tree Lighting with a speech from the Mayor and festive carols. The tree is lit at 5 PM sharp!

New Bedford Symphony Orchestra presents: Holiday Pops
Zeiterion Theatre, Matinee: 3:30 PM, Evening: 7 PM
The Symphony Orchestra plays all of your holiday favorites, joined by the Showstoppers and Southeastern Massachusetts Youth Orchestra for a special performance.

Thursday, December 15
Winter Wonderland Holiday Party 2022 Fundraiser
New Bedford Art Museum, 6:30–9 PM
Celebrate the winter solstice with tasty hors d'oeuvres and drinks while you stroll through the museum's galleries. Purchase gifts from local black-owned small businesses from the Buy Black NB pop-up market. Enjoy the joyous sounds of holiday tunes presented by New Bedford Festival Theatre. View the cutting-edge series of "tiny dance" performances, curated by dancer/choreographer Ali Kenner Brodsky. Enjoy exquisite treats from the Cake Smith Gallery. Participate in art making, gallery talks, live demonstrations, and much more.

Journey through stories of the Christmas past, present, and future with Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. Jam-packed with holiday hits! (strong language; recommended for children 8+)
