The 2nd Annual William Street Neighborhood Festival on September 16th, is a coming together of 3 historic churches in downtown New Bedford whose goal is to show off the artistic talent and historic buildings in the William Street neighborhood. The 3 churches are the First Unitarian Church, The First Baptist Church, and the First Universalists (Gallery X). Although originally houses of faith they now also are homes to very creative, art, theater, and musical groups. The goal of the festival is to show that saving these buildings and opening their doors to art and history can help unique talent blossom and flourish.
From Noon to 5pm there will be a scheduled event list of activities in each building. There will be art exhibits, theater, and lots of music! There will also be food trucks and craft areas (free to local artists, farmers, and businesses). Events in all 3 churches will be free to all, so come on and have fun, meet the talent that is making New Bedford famous! Festival visitors are encouraged to also take in the shops and stores in the Downtown area, there is so much to see, spend an afternoon on William Street.
This is an all volunteer organized event. Thank you to event organizers and sponsors: First Unitarian Church, The First Baptist Church, Gallery X, City of New Bedford, Destination New Bedford, Your Theatre, Inc., AHA! New Bedford, The Collective of New Bedford, New Bedford Cultural Council, The Island Foundation, and many, many more have combined efforts to help showcase this city’s incredible talent and diversity. New Bedford has recently been ranked one of the top ten most creative cities, come help us show it off.
