634 Purchase Street
The public is invited to an open forum to provide their views and to learn more about the creation of a mural in recognition of Booker T. Washington who visited New Bedford several times at the turn of the last century to raise funds for education for African Americans college students. The artist, Mr. Eden Soares, will be present to hear the views of the community that will inform his design of a mural. The mural will grace the south side of the PUCC Church home at 634 Purchase Street. All are welcome!
This project received a Wicked Cool Places grant, facilitated by New Bedford Creative at the NBEDC, and funded by the City of New Bedford’s Arts, Culture and Tourism Fund, with additional support from Bristol County Savings Bank, Barr Foundation, Mass Cultural Council, and MassDevelopment’s TDI Creative Cities Initiative.
