In this 5 week course, you will gain insight into the history of jazz music as well as the ways local artists have kept the legacy of jazz alive on the SouthCoast. You will explore jazz’s roots in the African diaspora, the various genres that jazz has emerged from and inspired, and the ways that jazz lives on in our own city by meeting, listening to, and jamming with local jazz artists. No prior musical experience is necessary, but if you have an instrument you’d like to bring, feel free! Light refreshments will be provided.
