Mayor Jon Mitchell, City of New Bedford presents an exhibit celebrating Black History Month, by artist and curator Alison Wells. Opening Reception Thursday, February 8th 6p-8p, meet the artist and enjoy light refreshments in the Ashley Room, City Hall.
Alison Wells is a Trinidadian Artist living and working in New Bedford Massachusetts. Her paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums internationally.
Wells was selected to exhibit her Urban Organic series at the 2010 World Exposition in Shanghai, China. In May 2011, Alison was one of the recipients for the Brookline Commission for the Arts Award and also received the ‘Assets for Artists’ grant from MassMoca in 2014.
Wells received a MFA degree from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, Massachusetts and a BFA from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica and teaches Fine Art courses at the College level part-time. Her paintings are part of private, public and corporate collections.
Wells is the owner of Alison Wells Fine Art Studio & Gallery at 106 William St., New Bedford MA where she showcases her own work and hosts guest exhibitions and community events. Wells also gives private art lessons individually and to small groups at her gallery. www.alisonwells.com 774-526-6550
