Spirit of Song Ensemble Cantata - Honor, Glory and Praise @ st anthony of padua church | New Bedford | Massachusetts | United States

Former New Bedford teacher and local composer, Russell Campoli, completed a Christmas Cantata called ‘Honor, Glory and Praise’. The Spirit of Song Ensemble, under the direction of Cassandra Morgan, will premier this beautiful new work in a concert at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in New Bedford. The Spirit of Song Ensemble is a choir and orchestra formed from local singers and instrumentalists who join together each year in celebration and song at Christmas. The proceeds from the cantata concert will be dedicated to the handicapped access fund. In addition to general seating with a suggested donation at the door of $10, there are some preferred seats being offered pre-paid in advance for $15 on the website www.musicatsaintanthonys.org. Donations to the fund can be made through the website as well.
Russell Campoli, a retired music teacher from the New Bedford School system, is credited with the composition of ‘Hope’, a song inspired as a remembrance to a dear friend. That piece was orchestrated and performed by the Occasion Singers in last year’s Spirit of Song Ensemble concert at St. Anthony’s. Encouraged by hearing his music come alive, and the positive reaction to it by the listeners, he created his first cantata, ‘Glory, Honor and Praise’ that tells the Christmas story with reverence and joy.
The Spirit of Song Ensemble is a 100 person SATB choir and orchestra ensemble drawing members from over 17 local churches and choirs. Soloists are Kevin Gomes, Adam Morris, Mim Paquin, Jason Robinette, and Paul Sardinha. They will be joined in this performance by the Occasion Singers, who will be featured in a few of their own special selections as well. Phil Paleologos and Ann Bruno will narrate the piece.
Free parking and a shuttle is available at St. Killian’s parking lot on the corner of Earle St. and Ashley Blvd. and is sponsored by Tremblay Bus. The suggested donation for general seating is $10 and those tickets can be purchased at the door. Donations to the handicap access fund or to purchase reserve seat tickets for $15 in advance, can be made using PayPal on the choir website www.musicatsaintanthonys.org, or by calling Gisele at 508-264-8010, or Thom at 508-717-2824.
