For two days, on Sat. April 22 and Sun. April 23, 1213 Purchase Street will be transformed into the literary hub of the region.
The New Bedford Bookfest features dozens of local and regional authors discussing, signing and selling their work at this free, open to the public event from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. both days. In addition to the writers, bookfest is pleased to offer patrons special features during the weekend.
On Saturday, April 22 at 1:30 p.m., NYC-based photographer and writer Matt Lambros will discuss the Rise and Fall of the American Movie Theater as captured by his lens and featured in his beautiful book, After The Final Curtain. Matt’s pursuits of movie palaces across the nation has caught the attention of media from BBC News to the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Saving Places. He’ll discuss what the future may be for these magnificent buildings – including New Bedford’s own Orpheum Theatre. On Sunday, April 23, New Bedford Standard-Times BookLovers columnist Lauren Daley will hold a Question & Answer discussion with South Dartmouth author, Holly FitzGerald as part of the New Bedford Bookfest.
Holly FitzGerald’s stunning debut novel, “Ruthless River: Love and Survival by Raft on the Amazon’s Relentless Madre de Dios” will be published by Vintage Departures this May, 2017.
