The Whaling Museum invites you to celebrate Women’s History Month with us and many talented young people on March 14 – AHA! New Bedford night! From 5-8 pm hear the “Her Works Do Follow” podcast created by students from YWCA Girls Exclusive at Keith Middle School. Speak with the creators about their experiences making the podcast and learning about women’s history. Also at 5 pm, see “The Girl That Lit the World,” a short film directed, scored, and produced by New Bedford’s Jarynette Gonzalez. At 6 pm, enjoy the music video “Taking Back the Power,” created by Youth Ambassador Program – YAP and Big Picture Anthems as a new anthem for the Women’s Rights Movement. Immediately following the music video, young people will light up the night with brilliant words illuminating the lives of historic women of the SouthCoast. Performers will compete for cash prizes in three age categories. Presented by “Lighting the Way: Historic Women of the SouthCoast” in partnership with the Bristol Community College Women’s Center, and the YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts . This night of events is free as part of AHA! New Bedford.
