Bluesman David Jacobs-Strain in Concert @ Wamsutta Club | New Bedford | Massachusetts | United States

David Jacobs-Strain, known for his mastery of traditional blues, roots music and a fierce blues guitar style presents a Music in the Gallery concert on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 7:30 PM in the beautiful James Arnold Mansion, owned by the Wamsutta Club, 427 County Street (at the corner of Union Street), New Bedford, MA. David will be accompanied by Philadelphia’s harmonica virtuoso, Bob Beach. Tickets are $20 in advance online and $25 at the door. Music in the Gallery is presented by the Music Directors of the New Bedford Folk Festival. Music in the Gallery concerts are open to the general public. All are welcome to this lovely, unique music experience.

David Jacobs-Strain is known for both his virtuosity and spirit of emotional abandon; his live show, featuring Bob Beach’s haunting or driving harmonica, moves from humorous, subversive blues, to delicate balladry, and then swings back to swampy rock and roll. It’s a range that ties Jacobs-Strain to his own generation and to guitar-slinger troubadours like Robert Johnson and Jackson Browne. The Washington Post said of David Jacobs-Strain “His acoustic and electric guitar work is crisp and driven, and his voice can rise to a soulful pitch or fall quietly in sync with a loping beat. His imagery-rich tales—well, it’s not hard to imagine some of them being covered by the likes of John Hammond Jr . . . . or Boz Scaggs. . .” David Jacobs-Strain turns new generations on to the complex yet simple beauty of the blues.
