An Evening of Stories & Verse from Down East Maine @ New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center | New Bedford | Massachusetts | United States

The New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center and the Community Economic Development Center are pleased to announce a monthly program series featuring music, stories, and poetry of the working waterfront. The first program is An Evening of Stories and Verse from Down East Maine featuring Brian Robbins and Bob Quinn.

Bob Quinn grew up lobstering in Maine and has been steeped in the lore of coastal Maine since he was a child. His Uncle Bonney wrote nautical poems with a humorous bent and it is his recitations of these poems, along with his colorful commentary, for which he is best known. Brian Robbins grew up in Stonington, Maine where he worked as a commercial fisherman for many years. For over 20 years, he has written a regular column known as “Bearin’s” for Commercial Fisheries News. He’ll make you laugh, maybe even shed a tear, and definitely leave you wanting more.

The evening is sponsored by Massachusetts Lobstermen’s Association. The series is partially funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
